This page displays a sample tournament format ending with a single elimination tournament on Thursday using the seeding round placement to determine team designations. The Tuesday and Wednesday matches that used in Kona 2019. This can be displayed up until each island submits their rosters designating Division and Pool placement.
Your island tournament director(?) designates the team to be A1(Pool A, Team 1), A2, A3, A4, B1, B2, B3 and B4 for each division once each island turns in their rosters. These are inserted into a tournament teams database, I'll do this for you, and from that inserted into this HTML table. This populates the value in the Team Name columns to the names you designate. Before play begins this table can be displayed.
As Tuesday and Wednesday games are completed you enter the scores into a form and from this the seeding standings are calculated and can be displayed. I wrote this to display the standings following the Tuesday games but then decided that may be confusing since these results ultimately decide the Thursday schedule. I thought someone might look at this Tuesday evening and make Thursday plans based on what they see which will undoubtedly change after Wednesday's games.
So unless you prefer otherwise, once all seeding or pool play games are completed the standings are displayed. This also populates the schedule for the Thursday games with team names, and, of course, no game scores. Once the games are completed on Thursday you post those scores and the table is updated and Division titles are assigned.
Designate Team Name, Division, Pool and Team No. in Tournament Teams database.
Tournament database before
team names are inserted.
Tournament database after team names have been inserted from teams database.
Prior to team names being assigned to Divisions and Pools generic team names are used.
Prior to any games being played you can post the a game schedule like the example in the following link.
After Day 1 games are played scores are posted and the schedule is reposted. Team standings are calculated and included in the newly posted table.
After Day 2 games are played scores are posted and again the schedule is reposted. Team seeding standings are calculated and the team names for game schedules for the first games of the finals round are inserted into the schedule.
The scores can be posted throughout Day 3, the final day of the tournament, which will update the game schedule. Following the finals games the final standings are determined and posted.
